Our Mission

To foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts. To serve our veterans, the military and our communities. To advocate on behalf of all veterans.

About Us

Tattnall County Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7764 was chartered on September 12, 1961, with 45 members including veterans of World War II and Korea. Currently, we have 75 members inclusive of veterans of Vietnam, the Cold War, and the Global War on Terror.  In 2021, VFW Post 7764 became All-State and All-American for the first time in the 60-year history of the organization. Nationally in 2021, we were rated 11th in District 11 (which is 50 or fewer members). Our goal for 2022 was to earn All-State & All-American again and increase our membership, visibility, influence, and community involvement, and grow our Auxiliary and their involvement. We achieved all of those goals for 2022, 2023 and again in 2024. VFW Post 7764 was also named the Outstanding National Community Service Post for 2023 with over 4,000 Community Service Hours.

Our membership is a cross-section of the local population which comes from every community in Tattnall County as well as three surrounding counties and scattered members as far away as Pennsylvania, and Arizona. Our goal is to serve and advocate on behalf of our veterans, the local military, and our community. We give priority to veterans but will assist any member of the community in need if it’s within our capability and resources.

As of this writing, for FY 2024, we have 36 wheelchair ramps out in a four-county area which we’ve provided free of charge to veterans and community members. We do fund-raising through Buddy Poppy sales, Boston Butt sales, Chili Cook-Off, Chicken Quarter Dinner Plates, and recently we hosted a Benefit Ride. We also do occasional one-off events like raffles. We also provide Honor Guard and Flag Detail services (for Veteran’s funerals) as well as Flag Sponsorships for local businesses.
