Our Go-To Fundraising Event for several years was a semi-annual Boston Butt Sale with the profits going to local charities (most recently the John Kunney Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Alexander Hotel Restoration). Everything to do with this fundraiser was donated except for the meat and a few cooking supplies. Unfortunately, with the price increase that
happened coincident with COVID, we weren’t able to hold the line on our long-standing price and many of our loyal customers couldn’t afford the increase. Consequently, we haven’t done a full-scale Boston Butt sale (330 Butts) in a couple of years but we’re keeping an eye on meat prices and we’re standing ready to jump back in.

We also do Buddy Poppy Drives twice a year. This is strictly donations but also serves for good high visibility and PR especially when we have our Holiday Flag Display out around the courthouse.

Raffles are proving to be a much simpler (compared to Boston Butt sales) means of fundraising. Our raffles are done in conjunction with our Auxiliary and T&L Gold, a local pawn shop. This is something we’re planning on having as a monthly feature. Look for an opportunity to participate in our latest raffle elsewhere on this site.

Several VFW 7764 members are also members of local faith-based motorcycle groups, Imago Dei, Glennville Faith Riders, CVMA (Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association), The Patriot Guard, and a couple of others from neighboring communities. They convinced us of the money-making potential in a Benefit Ride and we gave it a try. The weather hasn’t been ideal on our chosen days so far but everyone who participated enjoyed it and encouraged us to keep doing them.
